Ladies Mile
By the mid-19th century, a new retail phenomenon was emerging in New York: the department store. This tour will visit some of the extraordinary buildings that were designed to display goods and attract shoppers to purchase ready-made goods, one of the very foundations of world commerce today. We will also visit the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park.
A metà dell‘800 si sviluppò a New York il fenomeno del “grande magazzino”. Questa visita vi mostrerà alcuni dei palazzi storici che per primi fecero uso delle vetrine per attirare clienti ed esporre merci e vestiti prêt-a-porter, elementi di base ancora oggi del consumismo. Visiteremo anche il Palazzo “a ferro da stiro” ed il parco di Madison Square.
